Medicare Rebates are available for our services. Depending on your fund, health insurance rebates may also be available.
To obtain the Medicare rebates for the program, you need to make an appointment with your GP to have a Mental Health Care Plan written. This is different from a standard consultation with your GP and involves them billing the appointment as an Item 2710. When you call your GP to make this appointment, you should tell the receptionist that you are booking in to have a Mental Health Care Plan written so that the correct time and billing item number is allocated. This will prevent you needing to have a second consultation with your GP.
The decision to write a Mental Health Care Plan for you and refer you to the Melbourne DBT Centre is at the discretion of your GP and should be made jointly between yourself and your GP.
If your GP is supportive, they may be able to write a second referral under a Chronic Disease Management Plan, which may allow further rebates if you are eligible. Your GP is welcome to contact us with any questions.
